Frequently asked questions

Here are just a few frequently asked questions that you may have about your appointment with us and your wedding dress.

If you have any questions about your appointment or bridal wear from The Bridal Chest, which has not been answered here, please do not hesitate in contacting us, we are always happy to help.

Do I need an appointment?
Yes, so that we may offer a one-to-one consultation with you for this special time, we operate an appointment only boutique.

How do I make an appointment?
You can call us on 020 8859 8822 or request an appointment via our appointments page. Please choose a time and date which you would like to visit us.

Do you charge for appointments?
No, we do not charge for your appointment. It is very important that you confirm 48 hours before the time of your appointment, if you are unable to keep your appointment, please let us know. If we do not hear from you 48 hours before your appointment, this is counted as a non-confirmation and your appointment will be cancelled and offered to another bride.

Can I change my appointment?
Yes, please call us 48 hours before your appointment and we would be more than happy to re-schedule for another time.

How many people can I bring to my appointment?
You are welcome to bring two people with you. Bring those who know you best and have your interests at heart.

How do I order from The Bridal Chest?
Once you have found your made-to-order wedding dress at our boutique, we will take your measurements, complete some paperwork, confirm an estimated delivery time for your dress. You will then be asked to read and sign our terms and conditions on the order form and pay a 50% deposit for made-to-order gowns. We will then place your order with the designer.

How do I pay for my wedding dress?
A 50% deposit is taken on time of ordering your made-to-order wedding dress, we accepts cash, credit/debit card. The balance payment of your dress will then be required when your dress arrives at The Bridal Chest.

Are there any hidden charges?
None, we will advise you of all costs based on the information on your order form before you place your order.

Do you charge for Alterations?
Yes, alterations are charged and you will be advised as such before we go ahead. You are not under any obligation to have your gown altered by The Bridal Chest. We will order a standard size dress from the designers size chart, closest to your measurements on time of ordering. Every designer has different sizes for different gowns and this will on most occasions not be as standard high street fashion sizes.

How long in advance should I order my made-to-order wedding dress?
You should allow no less than seven months, however we can offer a rush order from some designers (this may incur an extra cost), which we will advise on your visit. We would recommend as a guide that 9-12 months is an ideal time to order your wedding dress.

What happens when my dress arrives?
Once we receive your gown, we will store it until your fitting. This will be approximately eight weeks before your wedding day. Your final fitting will be approximately four weeks before your wedding.

Do you charge for wedding dress storage?
Currently, we do not charge for holding your made-to-order gown up to your wedding day.

How does it work if I buy a Sample Gown?
Full payment is required for all sample dresses on day of ordering, you then take the dress with you and return with your gown for your fitting. This will begin approximately eight weeks before your wedding date.
